Alliston OPP detachment

"Constable Easterbrook of the Alliston detachment of the OPP is shown here with Carl and Clara Pleasance and school bus driver Vera Marie McKenzie. Carl and Clara were presented with pins by the OPP for their great help during a school bus accident, October 3. Carl and Clara escorted students off the bus after it was struck by a car. There was no serious injuries."

Death
RUTLEDGE - Annie Sarah (Jeffels) in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Rutledge. Dear mother of Marion (Mrs. Clarence Noble) of Bradford, Ruby (Mrs. Clarence Noble) of Bradford, Ruby (Mrs. Elmer Holmes) of Burlington and William Rutledge o Bradford. Lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Resting at the W. John Thomas Funeral Home, 244 Victoria St. E., Alliston from 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m .on Tuesday. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, August 24, 1994 at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Alliston Union Cemetery.

MORRISON: Florence Estie, at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Alliston, on Friday, September 23, 1994. Estie Cook in her 83rd year, beloved wife of the late John Russell Morrison. Loving mother of Ruth and her husband Ted LEhman of Huntsville, Ronald and his wife Colleen of Tottenham and Gail and her husband Jim Coughlin of Barrie. Loving Nana to Darlene and her husband David, Carl and his wife Sharon, Terry, Jackie and Russelljr. Great-grandmother of Aaron, Nicole, Dustin and Jessica. Dear sister of Irene (Mrs. Gordon Clarke). Predeceased by Gertrude (Mrs. Harold Moffatt), Russell Cook, Margaret (Mrs Carmen Jelly) (formerly Mrs. Alymer Rayburn), Pearl (Mrs. Stan Gillies) and her parents, David and Alice Cook (Cobean). Rested at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, Tottenham, Sunday afternoon and evening. Funeral Service was held in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Beeton 2 p.m. Monday, September 26, 1994, followed by interment in St. John Cemetery, 6th Line, Tecumseth.

Simcoe South Women's Institute Annual Meeting

More than 100 delegates attended the district annual meeting of Simcoe South Women's Institutes last week at Alliston. Mrs. Russel Browning of Churchill headed the prize winners in the Log Book competition. Above are (left to right): Mrs. Gordon Mallion of Tottenham, who judged the entries, Mrs. Norman Baxter, Everett, third-prize winner, Mrs. Browning, and Mrs. William Sutherland, Bond Head, district history curator. This photo appeared in the Bradford Witness but is also from the Bradford Women's Institute Scrapbooks.

According to an Electricity Inspection Service hand-out from the same time period as the book: "A Meter Register Book is supplied by the Department of Trade and Commerce to contractors for The purpose of assisting them in complying with the provisions of the Electricity Inspection Act, and the regulations established thereunder. The following requirement are necessary...The Electricity Inspection Act provides a penalty of fifty dollars for any neglect in respect of the above requirements."
