Woman Loses Arm in Automobile Accident

"Miss Alida Hill, of 160 Macphedson Ave., Toronto, was critically injured in an auto accident Saturday afternoon when the car in which she was a passenger failed to negotiate the curve at the foot of Holland Landing hill, climbed an embankment and then rolled on the shoulder of the road. The driver of the car, Miss Dora Pepler, 19 Kendall Ave., Toronto, escaped injuries. The injured woman was removed to York County Hospital, Newmarket, where it was found necessary to amputate her right arm. She also suffered from shock. The car is badly wrecked."

Carl Melbourne of Holland Landing and formerly of Sharon, Ontario in his 58th year. Beloved husband of Ruth Thompson, dear father of Bonnie (Mrs. Joe Haas) of Bradford, Carol (Mrs. Greg Parker) of Georgetown and Debbie (Mrs. Chris Bergin) of Bond Head. Dear son of William and Gertie Melbourne. Dear brother of Anne (Mrs. Harry Sparling) of London, Ontario, Joan(Mrs. Vincent Lackimia) of Sepulveda, California and the late Ross Melbourne and his wife Hilda. Dear grandfather of Jessica Parker, Allison, David and Anne Bergin. The funeral service was held at Lathangue & Skwarchuk Funeral Home, Bradford on Tuesday, September 15, 1987 at 2 o'clock p.m. Interment at Bond Head Cemetery. Donations to the CAT Scan at York County Hospital, Newmarket would be appreciated.

Friends may call at the Lathangue & Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Road, Bradford for visitation on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. An Anglican service will be held at the Holy Martyrs of Japan Church, Essa St., Bradford on Monday November 25, 2002 at 2 p.m. Interment St. Paul's Cemetery, Coulson's Hill. Donations to Juvenile Diabetes or Trinity Anglican Church, Bradford would be appreciated.

Mrs. Judy Vandergroef of Newmarket and Miss Carol Ann Marx of R.R. 2, Newmarket were bridesmaids and Miss Mary Romagnoli, R.R. 2, Newmarket was flower girl. The ring bearer was Master Edward Jaques, R.R. 2, Newmarket. Mr. Harold Hunt of Streetsville was his brother's groomsman and the ushers were Messers. Terry Jaques of R.R. 2, Newmarket and Mr. Arthur Hunt of Bradford. Mr. and Mrs. Hunt will reside at 81 Frederick Street, Bradford.
