The Kilkenny family first opened a furniture and undertaker business at this same location in 1842. Their primary business was in cabinetmaking when it first opened. Thomas Kilkenny is said to have introduced the first hearse to Simcoe County around 1856.

The article accompanying this photograph gives a quick history of Moore Bros. Store, run by A.J. and F.W. Moore. The store came to Bradford in 1901, and was located just west of the Central Hotel on Holland Street. The Moore Brothers had patented the "Marvel Acetylene Gas Generator", a machine for those without electricity hook-ups.

This is a portrait engraving of the Marvel Acetylene Gas Generator, patented and invented by the Moore Bros. This machine was installed in places without electrical hook-ups so electricity could be used, and was in the Model School, Samuel Lukes' house, Dr. Stevenson's hosue, and the Presbyterian Manse.

This engraving of the Bradford Model School was featured alongside its Board Members in 1906. It was located on Queen Street and was built after the old structure burned down in 1877. The Board Members included A.N. Scarrow, Rev. F. Smith, E.P. Snow, R. Neilly, James Bemrose, John Elliott (chairman), and Samuel Martin. Scarrow was the principal of the Public and Model Schools from 1902, and was President of the Bradford Library Board.
