Description : Following about six months of poor health, the last several months of which were spent in hospital, William Oliver Burton passed away in Wellesley Hospital on November 25, 1966.Mr. Burton was born on August 25, 1914, on the 9th Line of Vaughan Township, son of the late Mr. Oliver H. Burton and Mrs. Bertha L. Robinson Burton.In 1927 he purchased the former Kiteley homestead on the Fourth Line of West Gwillimbury, where he had since resided.In 1942 Mr. Burton married Irma M. Hughes, who survives him. Also surviving are two sons, Robert of Kemptville, Janice, who is attending the Lakeshore Teachers' College; Elaine, Nancy-Jean, and William, at home. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. R. J. Castator (Edith), Mrs. William Lewis (Ethel), both of Toronto, Mrs. V. G. Fisher (Doris) of San Francisco, and Mrs. J. B. Robinson (Gladwyn) of R.R. 1, Bradford.Mr. Burton was a member of Dunkerron United Church where he had served both as a trustee and an elder.The funeral was held from the Lewis Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe St., Bradford, on Monday, November 28, with services conducted by his minister, Rev. Gordon Elliott of Schomberg, assisted by a former minister, Rev. W. M. Lee of Alliston. Interment was in the Burton family plot, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bolton.The pallbearers were Messrs. Ronald Mills, Lewis Archibald, John Devins, Murray Rose, Jack Breedon and Bryan Jackson.The flower bearers were Clifford Penelton, John McEwen, Ariole Sloan, J. A. S. Mills, Harry Bennett and Alex McKeen.The funeral was largely attended by friends at home and from a distance. The latter came from Stayner, Moonstone, Orillia, Newmarket, Aurora, Toronto, Buffalo, Brampton, Bolton, Listowel, Arthur, Alliston, Mono Road and Schomberg.
