A newspaper article about fundraising to raise funds for a new Bradford Public Library at 100 Holland Court.

"You may be wondering, as I did, why there's a need for fundraising activities for the new Bradford Public Library. Like the present library, the new one will be funded by the provincial government through grants and the town through municipal tax revenue. According to Ann Wag [Anne Wagg], chairman of the library fundraising committee, extra funds are used for the special things which do not come under a regular budget. That may be an extra purchase of books or a special piece of equipment..."

Construction Workers Unearthing Simcoe County's Past

"Construction crews working on Holland Street West uncovered a bit of history last week. According to several workers at the road reconstruction site, several large timber-like beams were unearthed from about six feet below the present surface of the road. It is likely that the beams date from the 1800s, and were either part of, or laid just after the demolition of, the first covered road in the county...."

Highway 11 accident kills Gilford woman

"Gilford - a Gilford woman was killed and two persons were sent to hospital in a traffic accident Wednesday (Jan. 14).
Jean Taylor, 69, was fatally injured when the car she was driving southbound on Highway 11 struck another head on, Bradford OPP report.
The accident happened at about 12:30 p.m., near the 11th Concession. Mrs. Taylor's car was on the wrong side of the road, police report.
Raoul Tremblay, 76, of Churchill, was driving the northbound car. He and his daughter Violet were taken to York County Hospital.
Approximately $14,000 damage was done to the two car.
Bradford OPP are investigating the accident. No charges have been laid."
