These enormous elm logs are in the wood yard on the Brown farm, lot 14, and conc.10. Harry Brown is standing on the right, his brother, Frank, is on the left. They are cutting these elm logs into firewood length blocks for the next winters wood supply. Trees would be cut from the woodlot into logs and then skidded onto the sleigh and pulled by team of horses up to the woodyard between the house and barn to be cut up for firewood. This was a handy way for this to be done as Frank and Harry would not have to walk to the bush to cut wood ever nice day. Photo taken in the 1920s.

Description : Died at York County Hospital, Newmarket. Of Bradford, beloved husband of May Patience, dear father of George and Stan, and dear brother of Walter and Harry, both of Bradford, Mrs. W. Adair (Ella) of Newmarket, Mrs. I. Metcalfe (Jessie) of Bradford. Service was held from the Bradford United Church, Dec. 7, with interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford.
