Writing on the back reads: "William McWilliam and his wife came to Canada from Banff in Scotland, near Inverness. They settled north of Bradford, Ontario. They paid their own way out from Scotland, so said my aunt Annie McWilliam. They came out sometime after 1800."
This pair of elegant pink granite obelisks, gracing the Thorton Union Cemetery, is typical of the work produced by J and A Borrowman, Bradford Monuments, erected 1865 and 67.
It was used as the Methodist Manse until 1970. Located on the corner of Barrie and Frederick Streets. Built around 1885. Please contact the library (905-775-3328) if you have any additional information about the contents of this photo.
