Description : More than eighty years of residence in Bradford were terminated by the passing of Robert McKinstry at Toronto General Hospital on Thursday, January 29. After several years of failing health, during which he was faithfully cared for by his daughter, Miss Dorothy, Mr. McKinstry was moved to the hospital but a day before his death.Born in Bradford, Mr. McKinstry had spent his entire life here. His wife, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Lawson, predeceased him over four year ago. Surviving are his son, Oasie, of Bradford, and two daughters, Mrs. Mazel McGee of Gravenhurst and Miss Dorothy at home. Five brothers also survive, namely, Henry McKinstry of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; Ernest McKinstry of Port Arthur, Albert McKinstry of London, Ontario, Norman McKinstry of Guelph, and Warren McKinstry in Western Canada.In early life Mr. McKinstry was a blacksmith but he will be best remembered by Bradford lacrosse teams. He was a Junior champion when the Bradford teams won the Ontario Junior Championship in 1902 and 1905, and when these Juniors became Intermediates Mr. McKinstry was still with them when Bradford won the Ontario Intermediate Championship in 1908 and again in 1909.An Anglican in religion, Rev. H. G. Blake returned from Toronto to conduct the funeral services from the T. Kilkenny & Son Funeral Home on Feb. 2. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.The pallbearers were B. B. Collings, W. G. Sutherland, Lorne Church, and three nephews, Mac Olgivie of Gravenhurst, and Harlan and Graham Dedman of North Bay.
