Obituary

Orillia Mayor John Palmer is dead of a heart attack. Palmer, sixty-five, was at home recuperating from surgery when he began experiencing chest pains on Wednesday and returned to hospital. He died on Friday morning.
Palmer was a teacher before running for political office in 1988. He began teaching at Orillia District Collegiate & Vocational Institute in 1966, and retired as head of the history department in 1983.
He leaves a wife, Phyllis, three children and three grandchildren.

Loving Grandmother of Joshua, Amanda, Jacob and Caleb Van Ry, Vaughan, Jamie and Christopher Thompson, Meaghan McClymant, Zachary and Hilary Harway and Scott Smith.
Dear sister of Freda and her husband Denis Hardy of Deep River; Audrey Hollard of Magnetaway; Lloyd Wren of Burlington; Dough Wren and his wife Myrtle of King City; Norris Wren of Richmond Hill; Joan and her husband Martin Hewson of Dunchurch; Lawrence Wren of Chatham; Naida Reynolds of Dunchurch; Donna and her husband Clifford Greenwood of Dunchurch and the late Rod Wren.
