Description : Although not enjoying the best of health for some time, the last illness of Mrs. James Armstrong, of 98 John Street E., Bradford, was not lengthy, when she passed away in York County Hospital on Friday, November 11. Mrs. Armstrong was a life-long resident of Bradford, where she received her schooling as the former Violet Jane Saint. With her marriage to the late James Armstrong she continued to reside in Bradford, where she enjoyed life with the company of her relatives and long-time friends.Her church was Trinity Anglican, Bradford. Mrs. Armstrong's husband predeceased her in 1956 and she is survived by one daughter (Shirley), Mrs. William Watson of Bradford and her grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Sara Reeves of Bradford, and a brother, Mr. Leonard Saint of Bradford also survive. The funeral was held on November 14 from the Lewis Funeral Home, with her rector, Rev. W. H. Warnica, conducting the services. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.The pallbearers were Messrs. James Church, Gordon Church, Jack Church, Allen Hodgson, Mel. Saint and Roy Saint.

Collings), Bradford; Melville G., Bradford; Norman W., Toronto; Beatrice (Mrs. Emerson Thorpe, Woodville; Ethel (Mrs. George Stewart), Bradford; and Eldon, Toronto. Sister to Mrs. Chisholm of Cleveland, Ohio (last of a family of seven). Predeceased by her husband four years previous, daughters Minnie (Mrs. C. Clappin) and Nell (Mrs. Jas. Balfour), and an infant son, George.
Born near Cornwall, Ontario. Family moved to Angus when she was young, where she met her husband, William G. Waldruff, to whom she was married for 68 years. Married in Allandale. Lived in Angus, Colwell, Barrie, and Allandale, coming to Bradford in 1901. Funeral from home by Rev. F.G. MacTavish of Bradford United Church. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers (son-in-law, two grandsons, and three grandsons-in-law): Emerson Thorpe, Woodville; Norman E. Collings, Bradford; Orin Thorpe, Hamilton; Ken Blevins, Toronto; Gordon Crutcher, Thornhill; and Robt. Riddell, King.

Description : Arthur David Spence, who had lived most of his life in Bradford, passed away at York County Hospital, Newmarket, April 10, 1965, after six weeks' illness. While he never fully recovered from a serious heart attack eleven years ago, he had enjoyed reasonably good health through the years. Born in Bradford, July 26, 1910, he was the son of the late James and Annie Spence. He was educated in the Bradford schools and was for many years with Spence Lumber Co., originally owned and operated by his father and now by his brother, Alex. In 1936 he married Helen Jean Roberts and to this union were born four children, namely Robert (of O.P.P., Bracebridge), David, Linda and Donald, all of Bradford. Surviving also are two brothers, Alex of Bradford and Emerson of Delhi; two sisters, Emily (Mrs. J. Joy of Toronto) and Minnie (Mrs. Archie Hammell) of Bradford. Two brothers, William and Norman, predeceased him. He was a member of Bradford United Church.Funeral services conducted by Rev. D. J. Lute, were held from Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home, April 13, with interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford. Pallbearers were Jas. Church, Keith Noble, Wm. Whiteside, Norman Collings, Albert Roberts and Jas. Downey. Flower bearers were Victor Turner, Fred Miller, F. W. Collings, Chris. Dafos, Oswald Davey and Ted Gapp.
