Bradford Public Library Pin

Pin given out as part of fundraising for the Bradford Public Library. Fundraising was run in order to help raise money to build a new library, which was the library location (100 Holland Court) that finished construction in 1988.

Lions Club Library Plaque

A wood and metal plaque. It reads:

"This Local History Room was furnished by the Lions Club of Bradford to Commemorate the visit of Judge Brian Stevenson of Calgary President of the International Association of Lions Clubs on the occasion of their 50th anniversary October 9. 1987."

Library Opening Tag

A tag with hole (probably affixed to a small gift) thanking people for coming to the opening ceremony for the new Bradford Public Library at 100 Holland Court on November 6, 1988.

Bradford Public Library Book Plate

A book plate with black calligraphy style writing, one of many done by Ian Reid.

"Ian Reid was a resident of West Gwillimbury before Bradford amalgamated in 1991. He live on the 11th line of WG. He was a very popular citizen, always dressed in his Scottish kilt and accessories for anything festive or celebrative. In town, he recited 'Ode to a Haggis' on Robbie Burns Day in one of the local pubs at the time, which I attended. He was known in the library as the Patron who did all the calligraphy for our book plates. If any family made a donation to the library in the form of a memorial, or just purchasing books for the library, Ian Reid graciously on his own time made these book plates which are prominently displayed in the books..."
