Mural - Canadian Symbols

Part of the south side of 13 John St.. This section depicts Canadian symbols (a moose, beaver and a Canadian Flag) on a stamp. Artist is Angel Lariviere, created in 1996.

Mural - Prosperous Farmlands

Part of the mural on the south of 13 John St. This section depicts the Prosperous Farmlands of the Holland Marsh and West Gwillimbury. The names around the mural are Gwillimdale Farms Ltd., Westkal Farms Ltd., Langford Farms (From David, Michelle Langford and Family).
The sponsor in the stamp on the bottom left is MAV Inc., run by Manuel Fernandes.

Before the 1959 Fire

An undated photo found in the Bradford Witness of Holland Street prior to the 1959 fire which destroyed some of these businesses. The two buildings on the left of the photo were damaged by fire, with the far left one completely destroyed.

G.T.R. pay raise

"The management of the Grand Trunk Railway system has issued instructions making effective on April 1st, increase in the rate of pay to section foremen on the lines in Canada at ten cents per day to all track laborers who are receiving one dollar per day. This increase will affect a large majority of section men on this portion of the Grand Trunk system."

Newmarket Metropolitan Railway

The Metropolitan railway was a streetcar project which was to extend up to Bond Head through Bradford. Newspapers reported in 1900 that citizens would welcome this track through the towns, although it was a costly endeavour:
"The residents of the north end of Newmarket are solicious for the continuance of the Metropolitan Railway track through to their quarter, and have called upon the Council to endeavor to get the company to perform the work."

It also presented issues with the town's current layout, hence changes had to be made:
"The contract for removing the Newmarket Exhibition buildings to the South of the track has been let by the Management Committee, and arrangements have also been made for the erection of a grand stand. With these improvements the local grounds will compare favorably with any in the county."
