Description : A year ago, in January 1962, Edward (Teddy) Edwards, then 15 years old, and only son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward W. Edwards, R.R. 2, Bradford, contracted mumps, shortly after the family returned from a holiday in Florida. Complications developed and during the intervening year, despite the best medical skill and hospitalization obtainable, the struggle to regain his health had been discouraging. Recently his condition became worse and on Friday, January 4, he passed away in Toronto General Hospital. Teddy was in his 17th year.Born in Toronto, Teddy Edwards was but seven months old when he came with his parents to the farm in West Gwillimbury. His public school days were spent at Middleton School and he was in Grade 11 at Bradford District High School when he became ill. He held honour standing at school and for six years had attended classes at the Y.M.C.A. in Toronto, becoming a very excellent swimmer, won the bronze medallion for Royal Life Saving. He had also joined the 4-H Club. He was a boy of unusual achievement and variety of interests for his years.He was also very regular in his attendance at Bradford United Church, with his parents and sister.Teddy Edwards is survived by his parents and sister, Dorothy Diane, for whom much sympathy is felt in their sad bereavement.The private funeral was held on Monday afternoon from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home, Bradford, with Rev. F. G. MacTavish conducting the services. Interment was in Bond Head Cemetery.
