Description : The death of Mr. John Boddy, of this village, was referred to last week by nearly all our county exchanges. In our obituary notice we overlooked mentioning the fact that deceased had been a county magistrate for many years, and was also a staunch Conservative and a strong admirer of the late Sir John A. Macdonald. For upwards of thirty years he was the honoured treasurer of the South Simcoe Conservative Association, and in his day rendered valuable service to his party. The immediate cause of his death was an affection of the kidneys.

"Bond Head's Pioneer Parade last saturday, July 1, was another example and proof of the fact that enthusiasm and willing workers can produce what money expenditure cannot. The Bond Head workers for the parade, and other events, did not have big financial resources but they did have a wealth of initiative, enthusiasm willingness to work, and a determination to do credit to Bond Head, and they most certainly accomplished the latter. That parade, and other events of the day, made July 1, 1967, red letter day for Bond Head." ...

"The tenth running of the Canadian Open Sheep Dog trails, held in Bond Head last weekend, drew contestants right from Oregon through to Nova Scotia. In spite of inconsistent weather, Dog trail organizer Bill McMichael says, "the spectator attendance was about the same as last year, standing at about 1,000 over the two days." He also said, 'The interest in sheep dog running is very strong in the U.S. However, there the interest is more in running the dogs than in the spectator sport.'"

Dr. Benjamin S. Cerswell, a native of Bond Head, dies in Yakima, Washington.

"Mr. Duncan McArthur, proprietor of the Bond Head garage, is a patient in York County Hospital, Newmarket, recovering from a brutal assault, committed in his garage last Friday night around 10 o'clock, when he was struck on the head and kicked about the body, before being robbed of his wallet." ...

This photograph is of Felicia, bred by Edward Jeffs & Son. The Jeffs were well known stock-breeders who have owned their property on the 6th Concession since 1837. They first started with Shorthorn cattle, Leicester sheep and Berkshire pigs, and by 1906 were breeding show-winning animals.

"Mr. and Mrs. Daniel wilson, of Bond head, have been notified by Ottawa that their second son, Flt.-Sgt. Harold (Chub) Wilson, is missing after air operations over enemy territory. The entire crew of his craft failed to return and as yet there is no information regarding their fate, although authorities assure the parents that information is being sought through the Red Cross regarding them."

This edition of the Bradford Witness celebrated the Centennial Year of the town. Histories of the surrounding communities were added to the edition in honour of this event, and were contributions from the Women's Institutes.
