Firey Meteorite Seen By District Residents

"The blazing meteorite which cut a fiery path over Eastern Canada and the United States on Saturday night, frightening or thrilling thousands of people, was seen by many residents of Bradford and district. Though your editors did not see it, from all reports it created an eerie feeling in those who were witness to its passing.
Dr. Peter Millman of the National Research Council , Ottawa, said the meteorite may have been a fragment of a planet that broke up millions of years ago and, if so, it probably had been orbiting the sun until it crashed through the earth's atmosphere."

Arthur Evans' Appreciation Night

They came to pay tribute to Arthur Evans in Barrie last week at an appreciation night sponsored by the Simcoe Centre Progressive Conservatives. Mr. Evans, with one of his famous campaign photos as a backdrop, thanks the 900 plus friends who came to voice their appreciation. This photo appeared along with an article in the Bradford Witness and was also found in the Bradford Women's Institute Scrapbooks.

This photograph is of Felicia, bred by Edward Jeffs & Son. The Jeffs were well known stock-breeders who have owned their property on the 6th Concession since 1837. They first started with Shorthorn cattle, Leicester sheep and Berkshire pigs, and by 1906 were breeding show-winning animals.
