Dalston church parishioners re-create the 'good old days'

"Members and visitors at Dalston United Church took a step back in time Sunday. Their minister, Rev. Arnie Chamberlain, dressed in the garb of a circuit preacher. Their church became a log house with no windows, an open doorway, no floor, and walls caked with mud. And their services came from an 1825 Methodist prayer book. Sunday marked the half-way point in a year of celebrations for the church's 150th anniversary. Parishioners and visitors numbering 150, held services in a small tent next to the church on Highway 93 for an old-fashioned tent and picnic meeting..."

Geoffrey Reynold Darby in his 75th year was the beloved husband of Bessie and the late Dorothy (1987) Loving father of Ken of Toronto, Linda of Stroud, Ian of Peterborough, Norman of Toronto and Anne of Wellington. Dear poppa of Geoffrey and Jennifer, Trevor, Tyler and the late T.J. and Scott King. Dearly remembered by one brother Arthur and one sister Joan Bratton, both of England. Visitation was from Thorne Funeral Home in Cannington on Monday, January 14, 1991. Funeral Service was from All Saints Anglican Church, Cannington on Tuesday, January 15, 1991. Spring interment Coulson's Hill Cemetery, Coulson's Hill. As a remembrance, donations to a charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated.

Last surviving child of John and Isabella [sic] Darling. Dear sister-in-law of Mary Darling. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Service was held in the chapel on Wednesday, March 30, 1994 at 2 p.m. Interment was held at Bond Head Cemetery, Bond Head, Ontario. Reverend Charles Townsley officiating clergy.
