Faith and charity - this was Pat Andrews. . . . Patricia Ann was born September 29, 1935, the daughter of the late William Bygrove and the late Elizabeth Hunt. She was raised in Toronto's east end and attended St. John's Elementary School and St. Joseph's College and, later, gradated from St. Michael's College, University of Toronto in 1067 with an honour degree in Latin and English. She taught at West Hill Collegiate, Oakwood Collegiate and Sir Sandford Fleming Secondary School. Thirty-two years ago she married Jack Andrews in St. John's Catholic Church on Kingston Rd. In 1970, Pat and Jack moved to Cookston and Pat gave up teaching to raise her family. . . .Sons Martin, Lawrence, Vincent and daughter Catherine Ann and her dear husband Jack.

New Years baby for Bradford (birth)
Elisabeth Gomes, 28, of Bradford was the proud mother of the first baby born at York County Hosptial in 1992. Baby Amanda was born at 7:11 p.m. on January 1st, weighing in at 7 lbs 5 oz.
A first child for Elisabeth and husband Carlos, Amanda was 13 days early, but just in time to be number 1. She was presented with a silver cup by the Hospital, as part of their 70th anniversary celebrations.
York County Hospital had planned to present special commemorative cups to the first ten babies born on January 1st, but were foiled by the lack of a baby boom. Only two infants were born on New Years' Day.
The second was a baby girl, born at 8:56 p.m. to Allison Leve of Schomberg.

May postpone planned tour by Diefenbaker

"John Diefenbaker's scheduled October 15 tour of York Region may be temporarily postponed due to the sudden illness of Mrs. Diefenbaker, The Witness learned yesterday. Mr. Diefenbaker had been scheduled to address a dinner in Nobleton, and visit the Auld Kirk Cemetery in the Scotch Settlement. The visit will be re-scheduled for some future date if the former prime minister is unable to come to the area."

As part of the campaign, pamphlets were handed out and posters were placed around the building. Centenarian passes away by Joan Hebbes
100-year-old Elsie O'Neill passed away peacefully in her sleep last Sunday, at Aurora's Willows Estate Nursing Home.
Born in 1891, Elsie lived in England until age 17, when she emigrated to Canada. Four years later, in 1912, Elsie married Ambrose O'Neill and lived on the O'Neill farm just north of Bradford, where they raised nine children.
Elsie celebrated her 100th birthday on Dec. 13, along with many family members including grand children and great grandchildren. The staff at The Today and Simcoe York Printing and Publishing send the O'Neill's [sic] our heartfelt sympathy.
