Photograph of Jack Sutherland's grave site in Shorncliffe Military Cemetery in Sandgate, Eng. Jack was the son of Alexander and Elizabeth Sutherland who ran Sutherland’s Bakery and Grocery. He was the nephew of Bessie Campbell. Jack served in the First World War and was killed in action in 1917.

"Lacrosse was the sport in Bradford earlier this century. Bradford players and teams were among the best in the country, and games drew huge crowds at the old lacrosse field on Simcoe Street. Mother of Betty (Mrs. Halder Collins) of St. Catharines. Sister of Jessie Sutherland of St. Catharines, Wilfred J. Sutherland of Portland, Oregon. 3 grandchildren. Predeceased by two brothers, Jack, killed overseas in WWI and William (Billy), drowned when a young boy. After a service in St. Catharines, the funeral was held from T. Kilkenny & Son Funeral Home, Bradford on Jan. 20. Rev. H.T. Blake officiated. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford.
