70 and 72 Simcoe Road

The units located at 70 Simcoe Road (north side) and 72 Simcoe Road (south side) are part of an apartment building that was erected in 1980. The property was originally the site of a large, frame house that had a woodshed, chicken house, and a horse and cow stable on the back lane (Elizabeth Street). It was the home of Mr. Peachman (a farmer), his wife and sons (Wilbert, Harvey and Louis) many years ago. He was a day worker and a labourer. Charles Jackson and his wife (retired farmers) later lived here with their family before the house was demolished. (1, 2)

Service was held from the Lewis Funeral Home, Bradford, on Tuesday, December 7, at 2 p.m. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford.

Jackson, Eleanor McLean obituary

Description : In failing health for over a year, Mrs. Charles Jackson of Bradford passed away in York County Hospital, Newmarket, on December 4, 1965. Mrs. Jackson's maiden name was Eleanor McLean, and she was born in Pennville in 1889. On December 30, 1908 she married Charles Jackson, the marriage taking place at the home of her parents in Cookstown. Until moving to Bradford in October, 1943, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson resided in townships adjacent to Cookstown and Bradford. Mrs. Jackson is survived by her husband and four sons and three daughters, namely Edgar, Orville, Florence, Reginald, Wilma, Harry and Marion. She was predeceased by a son, Walter. Mrs. Jackson attended Bradford United Church and the funeral services were in charge of her minister, Rev. D. Lute, and were held from the Lewis Funeral Home on December 7, with interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Loving stepfather of Elmer Dales, Toronto, Jean (Mrs. Bill Hunter), Downsview, Harold, Rexdale and Edith (Mrs. Archie Adams), Toronto. Friends may call at the Lewis Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe St., Bradford. Service in the chapel Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Spring interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
