"The South Simcoe Plowing Match held Friday, September 20 was a complete success even though only two horse teams were entered, all other categories were based on tractor pulled plows. Anthony Featherstone of Milliken is shown here with his prize winning team of greys. He came second in the plowing competition."

"Ken Warner of Everett takes steady aim during Saturday's beef shoot at the J.S. Wilson farm on the fifth line of Tecumseth Township. Shown watching is Bill McPhail of Penville, one of the organizers of the beef shoot. Participants were required to shoot a target at a distance of 35 yards with 12-gauge shotguns. The prizes were roasts, steaks, hamburgers, and quarters of beef."

Over the three-day-period, 175 people slept on floors in sleeping bags and blankets, and ate food made by the women in the Bond Head area. Most of the people who stayed in the hall were truck drivers, and travellers from as far away as Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Cleveland, Ohio."

"John Allan Law, 52, was killed outside his home at Stroud on Thursday night a few hours after he had attended the funeral of a lifelong friend. Law was struck by a car after he stepped off a bus that had brought him from Peterborough where he had attended the funeral."
