"Jim Church, chairman of the Bradford Public Utilities Commission was appointed last week to the finance committee of the Ontario Municipal Electric Association. Mr. Church, a 17-year veteran of the PUC, will work with fellow commissioners from across Ontario for the upcoming year, dealing with the financial operation of the association. A life-long resident of Bradford, Mr. Church is also a member of the Bradford volunteer fire department. The Ontario Municipal Electric Association is the spokesman for more than 340 municipal utilities, including Bradford. The OMEA represents more than two million residential, commercial and industrial customers served by municipal distribution systems. These customers consume two-thirds of the electrical power in Ontario."
"Jean Sawyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Girvan Sawyer of Gilford, recently graduated from a bachelor of applied science degree from the college of family and the college of family and consumer studies at the University of Guelph."
"Janice Anne Masin, daughter of Miloslav and Anne Masin of Bradford, received a bachelor of applied arts degree in the secretarial science option. She graduated with honors on Thursday, June 2, at the spring convocation, Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, Toronto. Janice is employed by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Toronto."
"James Robert Corneau received a Honors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario. The Bachelor of Arts Degree was conferred on June 4. Mr. and Mrs. A. Corneau attended the ceremony."

"Arthur Evans, retiring Simcoe-Centre MPP said Thursday night he was leaving politics because "we should have new blood". He was speaking at an all-candidates meeting held in Sir William Osler School by the Bradford and West Gwillimbury Progressive Conservative Riding Association. Three contestants for the nomination in Simcoe-centre spoke after Mr. Evans reminisced about his last 16 years at Queen's Park. Evans described his various duties, told a joke about Stuart Smith, and promised the nominees that the winner would have all his support and advice."

"Everyone knows Barrie has its Kempenfelt Kelly, reportedly seen from time to time in the bay. But did you know Innisfil Township has a monster, too? Grades 5 and 6 at Innisfil Central school built a 30-foot Innisfil Iggy as a snow sculpture exhibit for the Innisfil Winterama. Although Iggy was not a prize-winner, he inspired teacher Ray McDonnell to write a poem about it."
"The Easter Parade at Sunnybrae School in Stroud was a lively event. The children of the Junior Division marched around the gym with musical accompaniment of 'In Your Easter Bonnet' to proudly model their handmade bonnets and top hats."
The first hydro substation in Bradford was located on Nelson St. (south of John St. East). It was built in 1916 (or 1918) by Tom and Len Saint on a small piece of property owned by the foundry on Holland Street.
