This is a picture of Holland Street looking west when it was just a dirt road. Notice the trees that used to line the street. The white building on the right was the post office and up to 1915 was home to the first library in town. The dark building beside it was a laundry .

Frances Reid appointed to county housing authority

"Frances Reid, vice-chairman of the West Gwillimbury planning committee, has been appointed to the Simcoe County and Orillia Housing Authority, Minister of Housing John Rhodes announced last week. Mrs. Reid has served on the planning committee for almost two years and has worked with the Ontario Municipal Board and the Greater Toronto Assessment Board for 27 years. The appointment on the authority runs for three years. The Simcoe County and Orillia Housing Authority studies government-subsidized housing in Simcoe County, including senior citizens' apartments and low-cost housing."

"West Gwillimbury Township council appeared to be quite a sedate crew in 1903, when this week's historical photo was taken. Standing are John Lee, grandfather of Sam Lee of Bradford; Charles Stewart; and S. George Hodgson, father-in-law of Mrs. Ernest (Lillian) Hodgson of Frederick Street, Bradford, who submitted the photo. Sitting are Jack Neely; Robert Thorpe; William Wood, one-time postmaster; and Tom Ritchie."
