Description : At the Toronto General Hospital, on Saturday, December 17, 1966. Ann M. Bateman, beloved wife of the late George P. Simpkin; dear mother of Doreen. Friends called at the Trull Funeral Home, 2704 Yonge St. Service was held in Bradford United Church, Bradford, Ont., Monday afternoon, at one o'clock. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford.

Description : Daughter of H.B. Jeffs and sister of Mrs G. Douglas Jeffs and Mrs Clare Shaw died in Toronto Western Hospital. She was a member of the T. Eaton Co. staff for 25 years. During the war she became cheif messing officer of the RCAF.
Corner of Queen and Moore Streets - Roman Catholic Church
This structure had a drive shed at the rear for stabling horses while the congregation attended church. The seating capacity was 125. The building had a simple 3-bay rectangular plan with a steep-pitched gable roof. Exterior buttresses and corner turrets (in lieu of a main spire) accentuated the sense of height. The symmetrical layout had a central aisle and an elevated pulpit and sacrament tables located at the front of the church. Large Gothic windows had vertical feature elements and pointed arch tracery. There was also a rose window. The large central entrance had an arched transom above. Solid brick masonry construction rested on a random field stone foundation. This building was demolished in 1957. The replacement church has a larger seating capacity. (3)

Also survived by 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Visitation and service at the Lathangue & Skwarchuk Funeral Home, Bradford, followed by cremation. Up until 18 years ago, they had a 100 acre farm in the Bradford area. Mrs. Hounsome attributed their long-lived happiness to "good clean living, and being agreeable as much and as often as possible."
