Kent Funeral Home (Hwy. 27 north) Cookstown, on Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service and committal was held at Cookstown United Church on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment New Hope Cemetery Cambridge. In lieu of flowers donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Sister of Gordon Madill of Newmarket and Bill Madill of Kitchener. Survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by granddaughter Heidi and brothers Percy, Wallace and Harold and sister Mae. Friends called at the Paul F. Kent Funeral Home, Cookstown, Tuesday and Wednesday. Funeral service was held at St. John's Anglican Church Cookstown on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Interment St. John's Anglican Cemetery. New Years baby for Bradford (birth)
Elisabeth Gomes, 28, of Bradford was the proud mother of the first baby born at York County Hosptial in 1992. Baby Amanda was born at 7:11 p.m. on January 1st, weighing in at 7 lbs 5 oz.
A first child for Elisabeth and husband Carlos, Amanda was 13 days early, but just in time to be number 1. She was presented with a silver cup by the Hospital, as part of their 70th anniversary celebrations.
York County Hospital had planned to present special commemorative cups to the first ten babies born on January 1st, but were foiled by the lack of a baby boom. Only two infants were born on New Years' Day.
The second was a baby girl, born at 8:56 p.m. to Allison Leve of Schomberg.
