Description : After an illness of eight weeks, Henry Nettleton Breedon passed away at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, on April 1, 1966.Born on the 2nd
Concession of Tecumseth on July 4, 1895, Henry was the eldest son of the late Robt. Breedon and Margaret Elizabeth Bridgeman. During his school years he attended Penville S.S. No. 8, Tecumseth, and Cross' School near Beeton. On April 17, 1919, he married Ethel Bernice Stonehouse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stonehouse, Schomberg. With the exception of a few years in King Township, they lived on
Lot 22, Con. 2, Tecumseth, until his wife's death in 1955. Henry continued farming there until failing health forced his retirement from active life, but he continued to live on the farm with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fuller. While farming in his earlier days, his horses were of very great interest to him, so much so that he was reluctant to replace them with the modern way of farming. He was of a quiet, kindly disposition, an indulgent father and grandfather, a good neighbour, and highly respected by those who knew him.He is survived by his daughter, Lorna (Mrs. Harold Fuller); two grandchildren, Kathy and Gordon; one brother, Nathaniel of Bond Head, and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Williamson (Mary Jane) of Arthur, Ethyle and Elizabeth of Dunkerron. He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel Bernice Stonehouse, on March 27, 1955.The funeral, which was largely attended, was held from the Anderson Funeral Chapel, Tottenham, on Monday, April 4. Service was conducted by Rev. Gordon Elliott of the United Church, Schomberg. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Schomberg. The pallbearers were six nephews: Carl, Bob, Lloyd and Don Williamson, and Jack and Joe Breedon.Flower bearers were Messrs. Alex McKeen, Eddie Eden, Allan Brown, Bram Lister, Roy Gardhouse, Bob Walker, Ira Wilmot and Dave Matson. Many beautiful floral tributes were received from relatives, friends and neighbours.
