The retirement of Mayor Joe Magani brought the first real election race in Bradford in years. Moments after Roy Gordon was declared the new mayor, he discussed the dramatic victory over Art Turner with Mayor Magani. This photo appeared with a group of others in The Witness entitled "Bradford's year in photos."
Joe Magani (left) former Mayor of Bradford, and lawyer Charles Evans share the spotlight Saturday night as the Bradford Lions Club held a dinner and dance at the community centre to mark 40 years as a club. Mr. Magani has been a member for 25 years and Mr. Evans is the only living charter member still with the club. Mr. Magani paid tribute to all community groups and clubs as well as the Lions Club and remarked, "If we all turned our hand, we could help a billion people. That's what it's all about." This photo appeared in the Bradford Witness but was also found in the Bradford Women's Institute Scrapbooks.

Art followed Frank Allan as Reeve in 1953 until the village became a town in 1960, and served as Mayor for 1 years, then a Conservative M.P.P. until 1977. This photo appeared in the Bradford Witness and was found in the Bradford Womens Institute's scrapbooks.
