Community : Other - Bradford Street : Lot : Concession : 0 Description : Mrs. Della Brondsema, 61, collapsed and passed away in the new Christian Reformed Church, Barrie, last week while her husband was conducting the dedication service.Rev. S. G. Brondsema and his wife had worked for more than a year with members of Barrie's Dutch community to build the church.The late Mrs. Brondsema was well known in the Dutch communities of the Holland Marsh, having accompanied her husband when he preached there on numerous occassions in the Christian Reformed churches.The funeral service was held in the new church at Barrie on Friday afternoon, November 19, with Rev. Ralph Wildschut of Springdale Christian Reformed Church officiating. The remains were taken to Grand Rapids, Mich., where interment was made yesterday (Tuesday).One son and three daughters survive. The son, Dr. J. D. Wevers, teacher at Knox College, Toronto, is now in Jerusalem on a Fellowship in the School of Semitics. He is known in Bradford, having preached in the Presbyterian Church here.

Community : Other - Bradford Street : Lot : Concession : 0 Description : Wesley Brooks, Newmarket, one of York County's finest municipal leaders and former town clerk there, died on Sunday afternoon, December 29, in York County Hospital, Newmarket. Mr. Brooks was 73, and suffered a heart attack.He leaves his wife, and son, Robert, St. Thomas, and sister Alice of Newmarket.Mr. Brooks retired from the clerk-treasurer's post at Newmarket two years ago after 17 years of service, but he never really retired" from community affairs. He was secretary of the Holland Valley Conservation Authority and manager-treasurer of the County of York United Hospitals campaign. He was also present at municipal functions and took an active part.In 1962 Newmarket named him "Citizen of the Year". He is a past master of the Masonic lodge and was active in Trinity United Church Newmarket.During World War I he served with the 127th battalion a unit which was raised locally.Mr. Brooks was born in Mount Albert and attended school there and at Belleville's Albert College. For some years he worked with Office Specialty Ltd. before entering municipal work."
