Bradford's Walter King was 31 years old when this photo was taken in 1914. Mr. King is shown with his new bride Stella Kneeshaw. The wedding took place two days before on the Kneeshaw farm on the 6th line of West Gwillimbury and the couple moved to Mr. King's farm down the road where they lived until 1943. When Mr. King was 95, he lived in retirement on John Street in Bradford.

Just after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary, Treva Rowe and Earl Rowe, former lieutenant-governor, check the health of one of the apple trees in front of their Newton Robinson home. They were married at Newton Robinson United Church June 27, 1917, and had three children, Bill, Lennox, and Mrs. Jean Wadds. Mr. Rowe was a member of the Ontario Legislature for two years in the 1920s and then represented Dufferin-Simcoe in the House of Commons for almost 40 years. He was lieutenant-governor from 1963 to 1968. This photo appeared in the Bradford Witness and it is also in the Bradford Women's Institute Scrapbooks.

Description : Peacefully at Trenton Memorial Hospital, Trenton, following a brief illness, in his 70th year. Husband of the late Kathleen Scharfe. Father of John Holancin Jr. of McKenzie, Tennessee; Lynne (Mrs. B. MacFarlane), North York; Kathleen (Mrs. D. Nesbit), Burnaby, B.C.; and Christine (Mrs. C. Palmer), Newmarket. Survived by his six sisters, Anne Papousek, Pauline Holancin, Mary Gilbert, Helen Poulis, Joan Maharg, Betty Sue Holancin and three brothers Paul, George, and Jim Holancin. Friend of Jeanette Hudson. Grandfather of Tara, Kristi, Stacey, Erica, Diane, Grant, Graham, and Benjamin. At Mr. Holancin's request, there will be a private cremation at Belleville Crematorium. Graveside interment will take place at Kettleby Cemetery, Kettleby. If desired, memorial donations may be made (by cheque only) to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. Arrangements under the direction of Evan J. Butchers Funeral Home, Frankford.

Bradford Fire Chief Ted Bulpit celebrated his 65th birthday on Thursday. Fellow Work's Department employees and office staff attended the small celebration. Bulpit has been employed in the Works Department for 11 years and has served as a part-time Fire Chief since 1979. He "Officially" retired as of January 26th, but will "still be around" til March.
