"Plans for Bradford's new $1.2 million library were unveiled Monday night. Architect Bill Lett presented a model and blueprints for the interior of the building, which were hashed out b the library committee...Lamb said the model of the library should help volunteers raise funds. 'When people throw their nickles, their quarters and their $250 in the jar, they can see what they're going to get' he said."
"The first major steps to preserve the heritage of the Scotch Settlement and area were taken last week when about 20 people officially founded a historical society. Known as the Scotch Settlement and District Historical Society, it will seek to preserve the historical record of not only the struggles of the Scottish settlers but those of Bradford and West Gwillimbury as well. Phillip Baker, a representative of the Ministry of Culture and Recreation was on hand to describe the procedure in setting up a historical society, the grant structure, and the initial problems that will have to be faced..."
Armson - Wood House on the south half of Lot 5, Concession 7. William Armson came to West Gwillimbury in 1820 and was granted a 200 acre piece of land (Lot 5, Con. 7). The home pictured was built of mud brick by the Armson family. Robert Wood bought it in 1881 and it was still in the Wood family in 2004. This photograph is thought to have been taken around 1890.
