Description : A life-long resident and respected citizen of West Gwillimbury, Robert Ernest Kneeshaw passed away November 20, 1974 at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie. Suffering a heart seizure in the early morning hours, his death at noonday came as a shock to family and friends. Although he had undergone tests the previous week he had been advised by doctors to carry on his usual activities.Born on March 14, 1904, he was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kneeshaw. His entire life was spent within half a mile of his birthplace at Steele's Corners.On September 22, 1928, Ernest Kneeshaw was married to Agnes Todd of Churchill by the Reverend John McEwan.For the greater part of his life he was very active, and an elder in Ebenezer United Church prior to its closing in 1966. The past five years he has been an elder at Churchill United Church.Through the years Mr. Kneeshaw was a farmer. Upon the opening of the Earl Rowe School in 1960 he became one of the first school bus drivers, a position he held until his death.Surviving are his widow and a daughter, Betty, Mrs. Allan Brown of Dalston; a son, Robert of Gilford and five grandchildren, Greg, Scott and Kevin Brown and Grant and Krista Kneeshaw. He is also survived by his brother, Douglas of R.R. 2, Thornton.Reverend A. M. Croft conducted the funeral service November 23 at the Hughes Funeral Home at Cookstown.Pallbearers were: Bruce Kneeshaw, Stanley Todd, Donald Sturgeon, Everett Kneeshaw and Thomas Bell.Interment was at Ebenezer Cemetery, West Gwillimbury.Mr. Kneeshaw will be sadly missed by a host of friends and acquaintances.
