Description : Though living in Bradford for a comparatively few years, Mr. L. W. Mabbett had won the esteem of the small circle of friends he had contacted, especially among church friends of Trinity Anglican Church, since coming to this district and home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. N. Porter of Bradford, about five years ago. Mr. Mabbett suffered from diabetes and since last June had been at Inniswood Lodge Rest Home. When he became seriously ill he was moved to Newmarket Hospital where he passed away on Wednesday, March 28.Mr. Mabbett was born at Hitchin Herts, England, 86 years ago, and came to Canada and Toronto in 1888. He was married at St. John's Church, York Mills, to Elizabeth Somer Curry, who predeceased him in 1949. He is survived by a son, Norman Mabbett of Newmarket, and a daughter, Mrs. N. Porter (Elsie) of Bradford; also a brother and sister in England.In his earlier years Mr. Mabbett was a farmer, retiring about twenty-five years ago. An Anglican in religion he was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, York Mills.The funeral was held from Trinity Church, Bradford, on Saturday, March 31, with Rev. W. S. Johnson conducting sthe services. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery, York Mills.Six grandsons acted as pallbearers.
