"Thompson Smith's mill in Amsterdam, where Riverview Inn now stands, about 1890. Moe Campbell hepled build this mill. This mill's last owners were Mickle and Dyment."

Thompson Smith was a Toronto man who participated in the incorporation the Rama Lumber Transport Co. and who opened up a lumber mill in Amsterdam (near Bradford). The exact date of opening is unknown, but it was sometime between 1858-1869. The mill was a steam mill and many of the logs cut were shipped along the Holland River. Smith's mill was eventually one of many in the area during the late nineteenth century.

"Mrs. Earl Bowles submitted this week's photo of the Bradford Methodist Church taken before the First World War. The building still occupies a prominent spot in the town just north of the post office on Barrie Street and has since become the Bradford United Church. The trees which used to shade the street are long gone, but many of the older house along that street, including the church, are in excellent condition."

In Bradford Lacrosse was widely played early this century with the area producing several world-class competitors. This photo, submitted by Thomas Pratt of Islington, shows Canada's national team of 1915. Bradford members on the team include V.
