A bench plane made largely of metal with wooden components , specifically a smoothing plane. It would be used for shaping wood or smoothing a wood surface in woodworking/carpentry.

Part of a collection of woodworking tools and items owned by Walter Reeves and Joseph Mark (Mark was original spelling before it changed to Marks). Reeves was Bradford Town Constable and Mark was a railway worker. Donated by their grandson, Bill Marks.

Description : Sarah Elizabeth (Sadie). At the Willows Rest Home Lodge, Aurora, on Sunday, February 1, 1970. Sadie Saint, of Bradford, in her 89th year, beloved wife of the late Walter Reeves, dear mother of Dorothy (Mrs. Harvey Marks), Bradford and the late Muriel, loving grandmother of Noreen (Mrs. Allan Hodgson) Beverley (Mrs. Jack Sanders), and Bill, also survived by 6 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Lewis Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe St., Bradford. Final resting place Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Description (pg1): "Town Constable Passes; Walter Reeves, Well Known Resident and Police Officer, Falls to Rally from Attack; Walter Reeves, Bradford's genial town constable and former lacrosse star, who suffered a heart attack about two weeks ago, died at his home here yesterday morning. The funeral will be held from Trinity Anglican Church tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. An obituary will appear in next week's issue."

(pg 5) REEVES - At his home, Bradford, Ont. on Tuesday, November 5, 1946, Walter A. Reeves, beloved husband of Sarah Saint and father of Mrs Harvery Marks (Dorothy). Resting at his late residence. Funeral on Thursday at 2 o'clock. Service in Trinity Church at 2.30. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Masonic brethren please meet at Lodge rooms at 1.30."
