Batt) of Oak Ridges, and Mary (Mrs. R. Lisk) of R.R. 1, Beeton, brother of Alexandra (Mrs. Earl Anderson) of Sundridge, Lettie (Mrs. Robert Wood) of Newton Robinson, Anna (Mrs. W.R. Smeltzer), Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Walter, Harry and Cilas, all deceased, and survived by eight grandchildren. Friends may call at the Lewis Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe St., Bradford. Service in the cahpel Wednesday at 3 p.m. Interment Bond Head Cemetery.

William C. Davey dies at Davey Hunt Club Camp

Description: One of the happiest occasions in Mr. William C. Davey's life was the 50th anniversary of the forming of the Hunt Club which bore his name, the Davey Hunt Club. The half-century mark in that club was reached in 1947 and the anniversary was marked by an honorary banquet for the veteran head of the club. At that time many thought the ambition to reach the fifty years as an active member of the club had spurred the elderly man to keep going, but 1948 found him back in camp as he has been each intervening year. Last Wednesday, November 11, a message came from the hunt camp, located near Burwash, Mileage 98, that the Club's leader would hunt no more. Among his most cherished friends, including his own sons, and amid the scenes he had always enjoyed, the old man suffered a heart seizure and passed on within a few minutes. He was in his 90th year." ...

Description : Former West Gwillimbury councillor and life-long township farmer Robert Henry Westlake died December 5. He was 69. Mr. Westlake also served as the township tile drain inspector until about two years ago. He leaves a wife, Emlyn Turton; children Ken of Shelburne; Kathryn (Mrs. Steve Varga) of Bradford; Doug of Red Deer, Alberta; Betty (Mrs. Carman Buttars) of Cambridge; Lawrence of Red Deer, Alberta; and Diane (Mrs. Ross Caldwell) of Agincourt. Mr. Westlake also leaves seven grandchildren, three sisters: Ethel (Mrs. Frank Hurd) of Caledon East; Lillian (Mrs. Walt Edney) and Ruth (Mrs. C. Kneeshaw), both of Bradford; and brother Ernie of Toronto. He is predeceased by brother Roy. Born in Bradford, Mr. Westlake was the son of Henry Westlake and Annie Morrison. He married his wife in Kleinburg February 20, 1942. He was a member of the Scotch Settlement Presbyterian Church. A funeral service was held at the Lathangue and Skwarchuk Funeral Home December 9. Rev. G. M. McFarlane performed the service, with interment following at Emmanuel United Church Cemetery in Bond Head. Pallbearers were sons Ken, Doug, and Lawrence, along with sons-in-law Steve Varga, Carman Buttars, and Ross Caldwell.Relatives and friends attended from Palmerston, London, Toronto, Red Deer, Alberta, Renfrew, Cobourg, and Strathroy.
