Description : After a lingering illness, Mrs. Nellie Roberts MacDonald passed away in York County Hospital, Newmarket, Saturday, September, 22, 1956. Born Nellie Chandler in London, England, September 5, 1895, she came to Canada as a child, spending most of her life in the Alliston district. She was a member of Burns United Church in Essa.In 1917, she married the late John Roberts, of Alliston. They resided on Scotch Line in Essa until 1930, when they sold their farm and moved to the 9th Line of West Gwillimbury, where Mr. Roberts predeceased her in 1941. In 1945 , she married David MacDonald of Toronto.She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Jean (Mrs. Arthur Spence), three sons, Charles, Albert and Maurice Roberts, all of Bradford, eight grandchildren and one brother, John Chandler of Chatham. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. F. G. MacTavish from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 25.Interment was in Alliston Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Fife, Harold Drury, Otto Nielson, Ross Elliott, W. Hounsome and her grandson, Robert Spence.
