Description : One of Bradford's elderly, well-known and esteemed residents passed away in Newmarket Hospital on Sunday, November 18, in the person of Mrs. Joseph Scanlon. Mrs. Scanlon, who was in her 83rd year, had not enjoyed good health for some considerable time, having suffered several slight strokes, previous to the one which caused her being moved to hospital.The former Margaret Mundy was born at Gilford, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Mundy of that district. She attended school in Gilford and fifty-one years ago she married Joseph Scanlon who predeceased her twenty-one years ago. Practically all of her married life was spent in Bradford where she was most favourably known. She was a member of the United Church.Mrs. Scanlon had no family. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Rayburn (Hattie) of Zealandia, Saskatchewan, and three brothers, George Mundy of Belhaven; John Mundy of Harriston; and David Mundy of Bradford.The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon from the Lathangue-Kilkenney Funeral Home. Rev. F. G. MacTavish conducted the services and interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.Six nephews acted as pallbearers, namely, Norman Mundy, Walter Mundy, Harold Mundy, Charlie Mundy, William Mundy, and Charlie Scanlon.

Description : A medical practitioner at Schomberg for 56 years and widely known throughout the district, Dr. Morris K. Dillane, 82, died at St. Michael's Hospital. He had been practising up until suffering a stroke six weeks ago.Born in Tottenham, Dr. Dillane was educated at Newmarket High School, Trinity College, Toronto, and graduated in medicine from the University of Toronto in 1899, when he settled in Schomberg.Dr. Dillane was a former medical officer of health for King Township and was active in York County Medical Association. He belonged to the Ontario and Canadian Medical Associations and was a former chairman of Schomberg Board of Education. In World War I, Dr. Dillane was active in Red Cross work. On the occasion of his 50th anniversary as a physician he was honored by District 5 Medical Association.Dr. Dillane was a former warden and active member of St. Mary Magdalene's Anglican Church, Schomberg, from which the funeral took place on Tuesday at 2 p.m.He leaves his widow, the former Annie Catherine Henderson; a daughter, Lorna, at home, and three sons, Edward Lister, Dr. Eric Dillane at Powassan, and Grant at Toronto.
