Description : Mr. Ernest Victor Dales passed away at Martin Manor, Newmarket, on Monday, January 18, after a period of illness which extended over eighteen months. He was in his 82nd year.Born on the 13th
Concession of West Gwillimbury, Mr. Dales had been a life-long resident of the township, farming on the Dales' homestead which was settled by his grandparents in 1834, in The Hollows. He retired from farming in 1936 after being in an accident which limited his activities for the rest of his life.In 1915 he married Ida Eveleen (Eva) Marriner in Toronto, who survives him. The family surviving are Earl Dales, Gilford; Mrs. Harry Cross (Blossom), Beeton, Elmer, Toronto; Mrs. Hunter (Jeanne), Downsview; Harold, Weston; Mrs. Archie Adams (Edythe), Weston; and twelve grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Jackie, in 1922. Also surviving are one brother, George, Toronto, and two sisters, Mrs. Earl James (Emma), Toronto, and Mrs. Russell Draper (Clara), Cookstown.In his early life Mr. Dales attended Ebenezer Church and served as trustee for The Hollows School.The funeral was held on Thursday, January 21, from the Lewis Funeral Home, Simcoe
Street, Bradford, with Mr. T. Page conducting the services. Interment was in Sixth Line Cemetery Vault.Pallbearers were three sons, Earl, Elmer and Harold Dales; three sons-in-law, Harry Cross, William Hunter and Archie Adams.
