Description : Principal of Bradford District High School during the September 1959 to June 1964 period, Mr. A. H. Stevens, passed away suddenly in Toronto last Wednesday as the result of a heart attack.Mr. Stevens was appointed principal of B.D.H.S. after the sudden death of Principal Joseph Wood. Before he had completed his fifth year here, he suffered a very severe heart attack from which he made a slow recovery and which resulted in his resigning from his position as principal here and his retirement from teaching. He moved from Bradford to Toronto, where he took a position as guidance counsellor with the Y.M.C.A., working with school drop-outs and encouraging them to return to school.When in Bradford, Mr. Stevens was particularly active in the work of the various departments of the United Church and in the Bradford Rotary Club. Church, Rotary and friends of his days at the school were among those going from here to attend the funeral services at St.George's United Church on Saturday,including Dr. and Mrs. Hecking, Mr. B. R. Walker and Miss Maureen Walker, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Ritchie, Mrs. Marynissen, Miss S. Sawyer and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kneeshaw.Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife, Mabel; one son, Dr. Donald Stevens of Newmarket; and two daughters: Mrs. Mary Cumming of Toronto and Dr. Nora Davis of Seattle, Washington.

Description : Evan Stevens, 49, of 56 Frederick
Street, Bradford, died after the car he was driving collided with a truck on the 9th
Concession of Innisfil Township. His car failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit on the passenger side.Stevens lived for about 10 minutes after the accident and official cause of the death was the lack of blood to the heart. He had been released from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie on October 11 after suffering a heart attack.He is survived by his wife Audrey, son David, brothers Reg and Keith, and sister Mrs. Alex MacKenzie.Stevens came to Bradford after the Second World War. He and his brother, Keith, ran a restaurant and bakery in Bradford until it was destroyed by fire. He then worked building the Avro Arrow until the project was closed down.Stevens was then employed by the Department of Transportation as a driving instructor and was semi-retired at the time of the accident.

She was also a member of the Bradford Legion.Surviving are her husband Keith Stevens, Bradford, one son Donald and his wife Sarah, Bradford, one daughter Margaret-Ann, Vancouver Island, B.C., three sisters Madge, Peggy and Dorothy, all of England, three brothers Fred, England, Morris, Belleville and Joe, Bancroft.Friends called at the Lathangue & Skwarchuk Funeral Home where funeral services were held in the chapel on Nov. 12 with Padre Hopkins of the Trinity Anglican Church officiating. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery.Pallbearers included Stan Stephenson, Red Egoroff, Bill Cole, Gord Church, Orville Hand and Len McLellan.Donations to the York County Hospital would be appreciated.
