Dear father of John and his wife Diane. Survived by brother Russell and sister Jean. Dear grandfather (Papa) of Wendy, Tracy, Steven and Paula. Friends may call at the Paul F. Kent Funeral Home (Hwy#27 North) Cookstown on Wednesday from 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service at St. John's Anglican Church, Cookstown on Thursday at 2:20 p.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, The Lung Association or the VON would be appreciated by the family.

Description : The 5th Anniversary of the WEGWHIST (West Gwillimbury History) Project will take place on October 19th, 1:30 p.m. at the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library. The meeting will feature a presentation of 2 copies of Governor Simcoe Slept Here: The Legacy of West Gwillimbury Township to representatives from each school in BWG, thanks to a generous local patron. The meeting will also feature a display of the development of the book, from the first list of the Table of Contents, through to the final text approved for printing - a once-in-a-lifetime happening. There will be a social time, to chat and reminisce. All are welcome to attend.

Service was held in the chapel on Friday, May 8, 1998 at 2 p.m. A masonic service was held on Thursday at 7 p.m. under the auspices of Simcoe Lodge #79, A.F.&A.M., Bradford, 19b.

Funeral service was held 1 p.m. Saturday with interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford.

"The Walking Parade left the old St. Mary's school yard at noon, led by the Bradford West GWillimbury Police, Fire Department, and St. John's Ambulance, as crowds holding red and white balloons lined Simcoe Street.
To the stirring sound of the Innisfil Pipes and Drums, marchers - including the IODE, members of the Portuguese Community, a contingent from the Base Camp Borden and the Colour Guard of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 521 - paraded down Simcoe to the Arena, where they marshalled on the soccer pitch. In the reviewing stand, representing the community, were Nick Chreptiuk, Renee Desjardins, Helen and George Jackson, Pat and Ron Kneeshaw, Jamie Snow, Marianne and Trevor Wilson, and Mayor Pat Storey, who read a special Canada Day message.
Then the birthday party began, and what a party it was, with 50 cent hot dogs sold by the Lions, 50 cent drinks sold by the Rotary Club, free watermelon from Bak's Market, and an enormous Canada 125 cake, courtesy of former Deputy Reeve Frances Reid.
There were games for the kids (and their parents), soccer and baseball exhibition games, a bike decorating contest, talent show, a dance out in the open air, and as the finale, the largest display of fireworks ever put on by the Chamber of Commerce, which organized the day's celebrations.
"It's really nice to see so many out, when I understand a lot of people have to work today," said Mayor Storey. "People really are interested in a community event that they can take in - it's like an old-fashioned picnic." "

Dear mother of Donald and his wife Helen of Barrie, Etta, Bonnie-Jean and Tom of Bond Head, Bill and his wife Linda of Bradford, Nancy and her husband Bob Reid of Bracebridge. Dear grandmother of Allen and Lana Whiteside, Joe Whiteside, Craig and Darren Reid. Dear great grandmother of Jessica and Samantha Whiteside. Special grandfather of Shawn, Nikki, Julie, Tanya, Steven, Elizabeth, Natasha, Lance, Candice and Amanda. Dear brother of Murray and the late Clayton and Harry. Remembered by many nieces and nephews. Visitation was held at the McKelvey Funeral Home, 264 Burton Ave., Barrie on Friday. Service was on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Churchill. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford. If so desired donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
