Description : Peacefully at York Central Hospital, Richmond Hill on Monday, January 5, 2009. Tom Evans, in his 77th year will b sadly missed by his wife Margie of 42 years, three children Charlie (Jane), Peter and Libbie (Colin) and six grandchildren Jack, Will, Charlotte, Sam, Andy and Patrick. He will be remembered with great fondness by many family and friends. The family will receive friends at SKWARCHUK FUNERAL HOME, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford (1-800-209-4803) on Thursday, Junary 8, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held on Thursday at 6:45 p.m. under the auspices of Simcoe Lodge A.F. & A.M. no. 70, Bradford. Funeral service will be held in the Bradford United Church, 66 Barrie St., Bradford on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bradford United Church, Canadian Kidney Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Description : Mr. Walter Evans, only brother of D. Arthur Evans, M.P.P., and brother of Mrs. J. Noble (Norma) of Bond Head and Mrs. Tom Fuller (Marjorie) of Bradford, and son of Mrs. Evans of Bond Head, died in Detroit, Mich., following a considerable period of poor health.Mr. Evans, who served overseas during the First Great War with the 167th Battalion (Simcoe Forresters), was badly gassed at Passchendaele, and during the intervening years, though able to hold good positions, he had never enjoyed really good health. In recent years the condition had become aggravated and recently he had not been at all well.A native of Tecumseth Township, Mr. Evans returned to this area at least once each year, usually visiting at the home of his brother, and he had many friends in this area who will learn with regret of his death.The funeral took place in Detroit on Monday, where he has long been resident, and where he is survived by a daughter and another sister.

Description : CARNDUFF - Funeral service for the late William Elmer Evans who passed away suddenly at his home on February 20, 1962, was held in Carnduff United Church on Friday, February 23. Rev. G. H. Whidden conducted the service, assisted by the choir. The hymns Abide With Me" and "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross" were sung and Mrs. Alvin Ewert sang "Beyond the Sunset".Born at Bradford Ont. on December 181879 he was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Zachariah Evans. As a young man he came to his brother's farm at Margaret Man. and later attended business college in Winnipeg. In 1909 he came to Carnduff as assistant at the station.After his marriage on December 201911 to Lydia Angus Frith who predeceased him in 1957 he took up farming northeast of Carnduff where he resided until his death.Interment was made in the family plot in Carnduff Cemetery with Eyers' Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Messrs. John Hamilton Clifford Frith John Hogg James Frith Roy Shanks and Harry Wells. Flowerbearers were Messrs. Alex Frith Bob Baldwin Clarence Quantrill Frank Taylor Jack Cinnamon and Geo. Quantrill.Mr. Evans is survived by two sons and two daughters: Lloyd and David Carnduff; Pearl (Mrs. O. E. Brown) of Ottawa and Anne (Mrs. Harold Hamilton) of Carnduff. Seven grandchildren and a sister Annie of Toronto also survive. Three brothers and three sisters predeceased him."Loving and kind in all his ways Upright and just to the end of his days; Sincere and true in his heart and mind Beautiful memories he left behind.""
