"It was up, up and away at Bak's Market on Wednesday, August 21 when the windmill on top of the market was completed. The job of lifting the blades up to the steel stand took only minutes after workmen finished putting the finishing touches on them. (right) The cost of the whole windmill is roughly $15,000 according to proprietor Casey Bak. The blades and shaft alone weigh two tons and will turn at one and a half revolutions per minute when the drive motor is installed."
"This week's historical photo was submitted by Lew Campbell of RR 2, Bradford, whose father, W.L. Campbell (behind the counter) operated the drug store on Holland Street now occupied Ritchie's Variety Store. Fred C. Cook, standing in front of the counter, worked for Mr. Campbell for several years, intending to become a druggist. But he went into the insurance business instead. Mr. Campbell owned the drug store in Bradford for 57 years. He graduated from the Ontario College of Pharmacy in 1891, a silver medalist in his class."

Firemen attempt to put out the fire that destroyed five businesses on Holland Street in Bradford. The businesses that were caught in the fire were Breen's Refrigeration Service, Evan's Men's and Boy's Wear, Model Bakery, Bradford 5 cents to $1.00 store and Harveys Meat Market. "While not disparaging the splendid service and fine co-operation of the firemen from neighbouring municipalities, in the battle to save Bradford from more extensive damage from fire last Wednesday, the brunt of the long hours of the fight, and the strain of responsibility, fell upon the home brigade, and their magnificent effort and success merits the gratitude of every Bradford property owner." ...
The building of the D.G. Bevan Insurance Brokers, Ltd. at 61 Holland Street West. This building currently houses the Hearing Sciences Audiology and Hearing Aid Centre. It was built in the 1880s by Mark Scanlon Jr., son of the one of the town founders Mark Scanlon, to house the Scanlon Law Offices in a Romanesque revival architecture style. His son Albert was also a lawyer for the Town.
This is a picture of Holland Street looking east when it was just a dirt road. Kilkenny Furniture was located at the corner of Moore and Holland Streets. To the right of it is J.A. Webb's Meat Market, Ernest Snow's Saddlery, and Davey's Butcher Shop.
