"John H.R. Allan graduated February 7, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Geography at a Winter Convocation of Guelph. The graduate is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Allan of Churchill."

"Thirty five students said good-bye to Bradford Public School last Thursday evening. The school also said farewell in a ceremony for the graduates. A large crowd of parents filled the auditorium for the hour long awards presentation followed by coffee and donuts. Sharon Dakin was the top student with an overall average of 91.6. For her hard work she received awards for the highest mark by a girl and also the general proficiency award for the highest marks in the class. A top student in history with a mark of 92.9. Sharon received a history award from the local branch of the Imperial Order of Daughters of the Empire. Blair Melton, with an average 81 per cent received the award for the highest marks by a boy in the grade eight class. The other award of the night, for good fellowship as voted by the class, went to Burton Stoddart. The guests on the stage were Sam Neilly, school board trustee for the area of Simcoe County School Board and Wes Nelson a retired teacher who worked as a supply teacher at the school this year. The master of ceremonies was the grade eight teacher Roger Barker. At the end of the evening the students presented Mr. Barker with a momento of their appreciation. Miss Terry O'Brien, the French teacher presented oral French certificates to the students. In addition to collecting awards Sharon Dakin gave the valedictory address. She remembered the nights staying up until two in the morning studying for tests then falling asleep during the test because of lack of sleep. Sharon finished with thanks to her teachers for their help. "Elizabeth Margaret Copeland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Copeland of Newton Robinson, graduated from St. Joseph's Campus of George Brown College July 18th, 1975. Beth will be joining the staff of Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton."

"Mrs. Austin Zoeller, vice president of the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada, speaking last Wednesday night at the 50th anniversary of Bradford Women's Institute said, 'There is no other organization like the W.I. in the whole wide world.' She recalled the W.I. was born on tragedy--the death of a child from drinking impure milk. Mrs. Adelaide Hoodless, the founder of the W.I. was the mother of the child. Mrs. Zoeller told how the secretary of the Farmer's Institute, Erland Lee at Stoney Creek, Ontario, promoted hearing a woman speaker against the wishes of his all-men organization. Mrs. Hoodless, that speaker, made a dynamic speech. Lee told the men after if they believed it important to have an organization to learn how to feed their animals, then it was equally important their wives had an organization to educate themselves on how to feed their families."

" Joyce Cairns, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Stanley Cairns of Bradford, graduated from the legal secretary's course this month at the spring convocation at Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology. She was accepted a position with Blake Cassells and Graydon at Commerce Court in Toronto."

"Patricia Crossland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Crossland of Bradford, received the degree of bachelor of arts in sociology on Saturday, May 28 at the spring convocation of McMaster University, Hamilton. Pat will continue her studies at the Institute of Child Study at University of Toronto for the next two years."

"As Bernard Horn retired after 30 years of teaching at Bradford District High School, the building ceased to be a high school. Mr. Horne saw each addition built on the old school built on the old school building but he will never teach in the new school, scheduled to open in September. Mr. Horne, geography teacher at Bradford District High School, taught for 42 years. He wasn't always a geography teacher nor was he always a high school teacher. His first post was at a log school house in Muskoka Township. He taught six elementary grades which was a real challenge. Children had to do a lot of seat work as instruction time was limited. During the winter, they were isolated. The nearest doctor was 16 miles away in Gravenhurst."

"Mrs. Linda Carol Graham of RR 1 , Lefroy, received a bachelor of arts degree from Wilfrid Laurier University at the convocation exercises held recently in Barrie. Mrs. Graham is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Barron of Bradford."

"The most surprised winner at the Bradford District High School Commencement, Friday was Anne Saint. Only two award winners had not been announced before the ceremonies. Miss Saint won one of these awards - the Student Life Cup. It is given to the student completing Grade 12 who has made the most worthy contribution to school life. In addition to her many other activities, Anne is the Witness correspondent for the high school. A big winner at the Bradford District High School commencement last Friday was Jacqueline Kulha. She won the J.C. Wood Scholarship of $300 for the highest aggregate in six Grade 13 subjects. In addition, she took the Municipality of Bradford prize for the highest standing in Grade 13 and the science prize for the highest aggregate in tow Grade 13 sciences. Miss Kulha is seen here holding the J.C. Wood and Bradford prizes."

"Patricia M. Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Wright, R.R. #2 Stroud, graduated June 2, 1975 from Women's College Hospital in association with Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and has accepted a position on staff of Toronto Western Hospital."
