The two-storey frame building located at 93 and 95 Holland St. East was originally a dry hotel and a boarding house. It was later divided into two separate living quarters. Henry Pringle and his family lived on the west side (93 Holland St. E.) for a number of years before moving to the north side of John Street. Tom Fuller and his sons Leonard and George lived on the east side (95 Holland St. E.) for years before moving to John St. (on the northwest corner of Colborne Street) to a house built by Dan Collings. "No cause has yet been determined for a stubborn blaze which broke out in a house at 16 John Street East in Bradford last Tuesday. The Bradford Fire Department was called out at about 4 pm to quell the blaze which broke out in a back apartment, occupied by Dick Gullinger. Fire Chief Harold Boyd said the whole apartment was in flamed by the time the firefighters arrived on the scene, and there was no hope of saving it. The back wall of the house was also badly damaged, and thick smoke made the rest of the house uninhabitable for the occupants of the other two apartments, John Faria Jr., and Louis Dasiba. "It was a tough one to put out," Chief Boyd said, explaining there were many false ceilings in the old house which had to be torn away to get at the flames. The chief estimated it took about three hours to put the fire out. The occupants managed to remove most of their belongings during the blaze, and there were no injuries. There has been no estimate of damage."
"A 50 suite senior citizens apartment building will be built in Bradford early next year. Last week, council and the town planning board met with officials of the Ontario Housing Corporation and the plans were revealed. OHC recently purchased five acres of land from the municipality in the west end of town on Miller Park Avenue. The suites will be available to senior citizens who presently reside in Bradford and West Gwillimbury. The rents will be geared to income. The contract for the building is expected to be let later this year and construction to be started in the spring of 1975. Town council has been working for almost four years to obtain the senior citizens apartment. The long delay was due to difficulty in obtaining a suitable site for the project. Last year, the town purchased almost 13 acres of land from the provincial government following the closing of the old Department of Highways garage. The original proposal was for 15 units but it was increased when West Gwillimbury council expressed an interest."
