Gramma to Tom (Lia) Sawyer and Janet (Kevin) Henderson; Jennifer and Kevin Shaw; Philip, Nicole and Matthew Keffer. Great-Gramma to Cameron Sawyer and Scott Henderson. Sister of Gordon (Margaret) Hughes. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Ruth was devoted to her family, church and community. A member of Gilford United Church, a life member of the Gilford UCW, member of the Gilford and District Horticultural Society and a former Gilford news correspondent of the Bradford Witness, Barrie Examiner and Innisfil Scope. Thank-you to Bradford Vally and the Lake House staff for their care and friendship to Mom over the past four and a half years. Description : It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Adair Brown of Goedrich, at age 76, on Thursday,August 23, 2007, beloved husband of the late Betty Irene (Lethbridge) Brown and dear father of Douglas Brown and his partner Tim Anderson of Calgary and Laura Brown of London. Tom died suddenly of a stroke. Predeceased by two special cousins Audrey Scales and Victor Sloan. Born in Bradford, Tom graduated from the University of Guelph in 1957 as an Agricultural Engineer. Tom had a long and diverse career in Agriculture, as an instructor at the Ridgetown Agricultural College, as an Agricultural Extension Engineer with the Perth County Department of Agriculture. In 1968 Tom became the Agricultural Curator with the National Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa until his formal retirement in 1991. He moved The Farm" near Goderich where he continued his lifelong farming career. In his later life Tom loved to travel and delighted in hosting family parties and celebrations at "The Farm." A Memorial Service will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel 709 Wonderland Road N. London Ontario on Tuesday August 28th at 4:30 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the RayJon Share Care Sarnia or to World Vision Canada two charities Tom avidly supported.
