Description : Many months of suffering from an incurable malady terminated on Saturday, January 17, when George Constable, one of Innisfil Township's most popular and respected residents, passed away.Born in 1899, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander (Sandy) Constable, in Innisfil Township, George Constable had spent practically his entire life in that township. For over 25 years he was in the livestock and trucking business and his business relations extended to farmers throughout this area, among whom he was most popular. When he turned his business over to his nephew a number of years ago he entertained his former customers and friends at a huge garden party at his home. It was a memorable event. Feeling that a holiday was due, Mr. and Mrs. Constable and family took a trailer trip across this Dominion, down the west coast to California, to Mexico, and back by the east coast. In picture and story this trip was recorded in interesting fashion by Mr. and Mrs. Constable upon their return at various meetings. He was elected councillor for Innisfil, heading the polls, and was chairman of the Parade Committee when that township held its Centennial celebrations. But at that time he was not a well man and the intervening period had been an unsuccessful battle for health.Mr. Constable was also a member of the Churchill Hall Board, Minerva Masonic Lodge, an officer in the United Co-Operative Livestock Branch and of the Churchill Softball and Curling Clubs.Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; his son, George Alexander (Sandy), and daughter, Elizabeth Ann. He was predeceased by his two brothers and three sisters, namely, John, Alexander, Margaret, Ann and Agnes. His funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the church of which he was a member, Churchill United, and the sorrowing friends attending far exceeded the accommodation of that building. Services were conducted by the minister of the church, Rev. H. G. Sanders, assisted by Rev. K. McLennan and Rev. J. Morris of Stroud. Interment was in Sixth Line Cemetery, Innisfil. The pallbearers were: Reuben Lucas, Harry Todd, Edgar Sturgeon, Robert Sinclair, Allad Todd and Kenneth Sturgeon. Honorary pallbearers were: Rev. R. Berner, Gavin C. Allan, Gilmore Reive, Sidney Cropley, Howard Allan, Blythe McConkey, Herbert Hughes, Sr., Roy Jack and William Richardson and Wilfred Stewart.
