Description : Highly esteemed throughout her long life and possibly Bradford's eldest resident, Mrs. James Mills passed away at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, on Sunday, February 19, following a brief illness. Mrs. Mills had enjoyed remarkably good health for a lady of her age, she being in her 94th year, until suffering a stroke a few days before her death, after which pneumonia developed.Mrs. Mills maiden name was Catherine Delaney and she was born in King Township, coming to Bradford at an early age. The family lived here for a short time before moving south of the river to Amsterdam, which was a thriving village at that time, boasting two sawmills, a store, a hotel, and a settlement of houses, many of them being located along what is now known as the old road." Her father was employed at one of the sawmills and she attended school at Amsterdam school. She became a resident of Bradford again when as a young woman she married James Mills who was a butcher here.Mr. Mills predeceased his wife many years ago but she kept her home here usually going to Oshawa to spend the winters with her sister-in-law Mrs. Julia Mills McCrea and returning to her own home in the spring. It was only last fall that she gave up her home here realizing that she could no longer manage alone.Mrs. Mills retained her interest in her friends here to the last. She is survived by one sister Annie Overs of Toronto and many friends. Three brothers Jim Karen and Eddie Delaney and a sister Mary predeceased her.A devout Roman Catholic her funeral was held from Holy Matyrs' Church Bradford on Tuesday morning with interment in Newmarket Roman Catholic Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. F. R. McGinn."

Description : The very sudden passing of Mrs.Beverley Woodcock on Sunday, February 19, at Newmarket Hospital came as a great shock to her family and to her many friends in Bradford where she had resided for almost her entire life. Mrs. Woodcock had apparently been as usual until the Thursday morning preceeding her death when she was stricken with a heavy stroke from which she did not regain conciousness. She had attended a social event in town the previous evening and Thursday morning was eating breakfast when stricken.Born at Holland Landing nearly 66 years ago, Addie Ellerby came with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ellerby, and other members of the family, to Bradford when she was five years of age. She attended school here and was a dressmaker here before marrying Beverley Woodcock of Bradford, about thirty-seven years ago, who survives her with their family of four sons and three daughters, namely Elmer of Bradford; Marshall of Willowdale; Merle, Leeson, Mrs. Chas. Gillis (Birdie), all of Bradford; Mrs. Donald Bolton (Marie) of Tottenham, and Jeanne at home. Thirteen grandchildren and two brothers, David and Jack Ellerby, both of Toronto, also survive.Mrs. Woodcock was well known and very popular among townspeople. She was a faithful worker in women's organizations, especially in the W.A. of Trinity Anglican Church, Bradford Women's Institute, and Bradford Knitting Club. To her family she was a devoted wife and mother. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home with interment in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford. The services were in charge of Rev. W. S. Johnson of Trinity Anglican Church, of which she was a member. The pallbearers were her four sons and her two sons-in-laws, namely Elmer, Marshall, Merle, and Leeson Woodcock, Charles Gillis and Donald Bolton.
