Description : On Tuesday, February 1, 2000, in his eighty-seventh year. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Marion and loved daughter Mary. He will be cherished in memory by his daughters Alice, Martha and Colleen (Bone) and his son-in-law Donald Bone. Pappa will be remembered with joy and love by his grandchildren, Martyn and Kristine Bone. Born February 16, 1913, in Bradford Ontario, son of Edward James Morton (1885-1980) and Alice Theresa Holtorf (1888-1970), brother of Mary Theresa Morton Walters (1914-1958), Alice Elizabeth Morton Coulter (1917-1998) and Jean Fitzegerald Morton Slightham. Bill spent his childhood in Bradford, and then lived on Raymond Avenue, Toronto. He earned his B.A. from Queen's University while teaching at Harwood Avenue Public School, where he met Marion. He taught and coached at Vaughan Road Collegiate, and his deep affection for the members of his football teams and his association with them continued throughout his life. Bill was Vice President of Noxzema Chemical Company and served as President of the Proprietary Association. He brought to business his unique style and philosophy, his personal quest or excellence and his innate skill for teaching and coaching. On retirement, Bill returned to Bradford where he was a farmer, and showed Marty and Kristy the joys and mysteries of nature. Later years were spent in Thornhill and on his beloved Amherst Island where he was living this winter. He reveled in life on the Island and cherished his many Island friends. Friends may call at the Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge St., Richmond Hill (4th traffic light north of Major Mackenzie Dr.) on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A service in celebration of Bill's life will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Thornhill on Saturday at 12:00 noon, reception to follow. Interment Christ Church Cemetery, Holland Landing at 3 p.m.
