Description : Mrs. Henry S. Martin, aged 70 years, 5 months and 15 days slept away at Oxbow Union Hospital, Sunday, June 9th, after a lengthy illness.Mrs. Martin, the former Clara Emiline Bowles, youngest of eight girls and two boys, was born Dec. 25, 1886, in West Gwillimbury Township at Bradford, Ont. A confirmed member of the Anglican faith until her marriage June 27, 1917, to Henry S. Martin of Frobisher, formerly of Elmvale, Ont., she later joined the United Church. They came west and made their home on the farm north of Frobisher. To this union were born two girls and one boy. On Nov. 4th, 1955, they moved to Alameda, residing there only ten days when Mrs. Martin broke her hip and entered Oxbow Hospital where she remained for over two winters.As well as being devoted to home and family the late Mrs. Martin was very active in all community organizations, particularly the work of the church. She served as a trustee on the school board, and gave willingly and unsparingly of her time. The many beautiful flowers at the funeral testified to the esteem in which she was held in the community.The funeral service was held in Frobisher United Church, Wednesday, June 12, conducted by Rev. J. H. Carpenter and assisted by the choir and Miss Helen Fehr, of Oxbow Hospital, who rendered tenderly Shadows" a request of the deceased. The two hymns "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" were also her requests.Mrs. Martin leaves to mourn her passing her husband three daughters: Dorothy of Toronto Ont.; Mrs. Ralph Deyell (Laura) Mrs. Jack Moncrief (Ruth) both of Alameda and one son Stuart of Frobisher; one sister Mrs. M. Law and one brother Norman both of Bradford Ont. and seven grandchildren.Interment took place in Frobisher Cemetery with Vincent Clark Matt Schiestel Ross Collopy Joe McCutcheon Bud Hassard and Robt. Hammermeister acting as pallbearers."
