Community : Other - Bradford Street : Lot : Concession : 0 Description : St. Mary Magdalene's Anglican Church, Schomberg, was filled to capacity on Thursday of last week for the funeral service of Mrs. Nora Hunter, wife of Fred Hunter, County Clerk of Simcoe County. The service was conducted by Rev. W. R. Symons, assisted by Rev. Dr. F. V. Abbott and Canon Alan Reid of Barrie, who gave the address.Lovely floral offerings surrounded the casket and the chancel, and during the service a beautiful duet, The Lord is My Shepherd " was sung by Miss Inez Lister and Mrs. Noreen Wilder who were former pupils of Mrs. Hunter. Interment was made in Lloydtown Cemetery.Many friends attended to pay their last respects including former pupils of this teacher who taught at Schomberg Continuation School and others who were associated with her when she worked with Schomberg Women's Institiute of which she was a past president; with the W.A. of the church and Schomberg Library. Members of Simcoe County Council attended in a body and there were representatives from adjacent counties among the mourners.Mr. and Mrs. Hunter and family of two daughters lived on a farm north of Schomberg until their removal to Barrie about six years ago. Mrs. Hunter will be remembered for her many interests while she lived in Schomberg; for her work as teacher and for her help and encouragement in producing amateur theatricals for the entertainment of young people. After moving to Barrie her activities in which she found so much pleasure were curtailed for she was a wheelchair patient for several years.She is survived by her husband and by her daughters Valerie (Mrs. Jack Wauchope) Willowdale and Evelyn Hunter at home in Barrie. - Aurora Banner."
