Description : Although in failing health for the past several months death came with startling suddenness to Dr. James Elwood Walker, V.S., last Tuesday evening, November 20, when he passed away while eating his evening meal at the home of his nephew, Orville Hughes, of West Gwillimbury.Born on

Concession 3, of West Gwillimbury the deceased grew up in the Dunkerron district, attending Dunkerron school and Bradford High School. A lover of animals, he decided to be a veterinarian and from Bradford District High School he entered training for his chosen profession. Particularly interested in horses he had entered race horses at local fairs across the country. He had lived in both Newmarket and Aurora and practised as a veterinarian in the districts near those towns.He was predeceased by his wife, the former Blanche Anna Osborne whom he married at Sutton in 1917, in December of 1946. They had no family and Dr. Walker came to live at the home of his nephew in February 1955.Surviving are his brother Norman of Schomberg (who due to illness was unable to attend the funeral); two nieces, Mrs. C. Logel (Elda Walker) of Listowel and Mrs. Wm. Burton (Irma Hughes) of Bradford, and two nephews, Roy Hughes of Schomberg and Orville Hughes of Bradford. One sister , Mrs. Joel Hughes (Ida) and one brother, George L. Walker, both of Schomberg, predeceased him in July 1941 and December 1952 respectively.The funeral took place from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home on Friday, November 23, with interment in Briar Hill Cemetery, Sutton.The pallbearers were Hugh Cousins (Aurora), J. A. S. Mills (Tottenham), Frank Allan, Neil Weir, Marcus Ross and Harold Newns, all of Bradford.Flower bearers were Jack Crawford, Ken. Wood, Donald Gray, Wm. Gould and Milton Ritchie.Friends were present for the service from Listowel, Toronto, Aurora, Schomberg, Nobleton and Bradford.
